Privacy policy
Stackmatter is an independent review site for marketing and SEO software. We collect as little data as possible, we do not sell it, and we do not build advertising profiles. This page explains what that means in practice. Last updated June 2026.
Who we are
Stackmatter is operated from the Netherlands. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected].
What we collect
You can read the entire site without giving us any personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no newsletter wall. The limited data that does pass through is:
- Standard server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting and security layer record basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and the time of a request. This is used to keep the site running and protect it from abuse, and it is kept only briefly.
- Outbound click counts. When you click a link to a tool we review, we record which tool, which page you came from, and a timestamp. This tells us which reviews are useful. It is not linked to your identity.
Cookies
Stackmatter does not set its own advertising or tracking cookies. Our security and delivery provider (Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary cookies that keep the site available and block malicious traffic. When you click an affiliate link to a vendor, that vendor or its affiliate network may set its own cookie on its own domain so it can attribute a referral. That behaviour is governed by the vendor's privacy policy, not ours.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you subscribe through one, at no extra cost to you. This never influences our scores, which follow a fixed rubric set before any commercial link is placed. See our full affiliate disclosure for detail.
Third parties we rely on
We use a small number of standard service providers to run the site: a cloud host for the server, Cloudflare for delivery and security, and the affiliate networks that handle referrals when you click out to a vendor. We do not share your personal information with anyone for their own marketing.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- We do not run third-party ad networks on the site.
- We do not build behavioural profiles of individual readers.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold almost no identifiable data about readers, there is usually little to act on, but you are welcome to contact us at [email protected] and we will respond.
Children
Stackmatter is a professional tool-review site intended for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page.
